South Africa Sea Salt Flakes
I frequented Africa many times to spent time with children in local
orphanages, so one day Ms. Mogou, one of the caretaker asked if I could
go to her village. As we approached the small town of Saint Helena Bay, I
immediately smelled the saltiness in the air, which was thick with
moisture and wind as well as the saltiness. It was so thick that my hair
became heavy from it.
Harvested from the West Coast of South Africa, these flake-like crystals
capture the delicate flavors of the sea and its rich minerals.
Unprocessed and unrefined, it can be used for several applications: Toss
into water for blanched veggies or pasta. Sprinkle large crunchy crystals
over oven-roasted chicken or sweet potatoes. To make a savory rub, crush
with peppercorns, thyme and cumin or your favorite fragrant fresh herbs
