Mauritius Fleur de Sel
I discovered this pleasantly moist, light-gray sea salt, which is dried by
wind and sun and then carefully hand-harvested, in this tiny island
floating in the exotic Indian Ocean.
I went to Mauritius because there are many fifth-generation Indians whose
ancestors, like mine, migrated from India during the 1800's to work on the
spice plantations. So, you can tell I felt right at home with the locals.
The salt in Mauritius is similar to the Fleur de Sel from Guerande. I
love to sprinkle it over baked goods. To make a savory fish rub, crush
with peppercorns, thyme and lavender.
Comes in our signature glass bottle, which measures 2-1/2 inches in diameter
and 2-3/4 inches in height. Salt weights 4.0oz.
