Middle-Eastern Sumac
Sumac has a delicious lemon-like tang and a slightly fruity taste and aroma. It's native to Iran, and today
is cultivated in Sicily, Turkey and certain regions in the Middle East. The berries are harvested when the
outer flesh is crimson. They are then dried in the sun and ground into a powder.
It is the main ingredient in a Middle Eastern spice blend called za-atar, made with sesame seeds and thyme.
You can sprinkle the sumac on salad and add this to a sandwich, or mix a pinch of sumac with mayonnaise and
use it as a spread.
Comes in our signature airtight tin, which measures 2-1/2 inches in diameter and 1-3/4 inches in height.
