Signed Nirmala Narine's Cookbook : In Nirmala's Kitchen
In Nirmala's Kitchen: Everyday World Cuisine, is about my travels to the far-flung villages, kitchens and food stalls of
the world in search of exciting new flavors and cuisines.
Collected are my engaging personal anecdotes, along with simplified recipes, menu style, designed for everyday cooking.
New Zealand, Mexico, Guyana, Vietnam, Tibet, Israel, Australia, Thailand, South America and North Africa are just a few of
the countries and regions covered. The book includes a detailed guide to spices, herbs and produce-along with pinches and dashes
of my knowledge of ethnic kitchen cultures and global cuisines.
"...a true talent for discovering wonderful things ... I love this book."
From the foreword written by Eric Ripert, Executive Chef/ Co-owner Le Bernardin
"...Nirmala Narine is the person for whom the term intrepid traveler was coined..."
The book is dazzling with great photographs by the author, compelling stories, and a comprehensive guide to exotic ingredients
that could be a book unto itself."
James Mellgren, Gourmet Retailer Magazine
"Our food world is a colorful quilt and now it has Nirmala who is part of this country great culinary fabric. She has connected us
through common threads of exotic, intoxicating spices, salts and foods and now her book. To celebrate multiculturalism in food is one of the most
beautiful ways to share.
We all wish to nourish those we love and Nirmala has taught us from her beautiful foods to now her recipes how to do it exceptional. Bravo!"
Art Smith, James Beard Humanitarian of the Year
"Narine's enthusiasm for the countries she visits comes through in her lively descriptions of the people and dishes she has encountered...
We'll gladly travel with her again."

"The book is a pleasurable bedtime read, a kind of travel diary… It's a delight to have Narine's native Guyana, as well as Vietnam, Japan,
Mexico, South America, India, Israel and more, between two covers. I don't have to dig through my boxes of cookbooks for Chinese, Australian or
Caribbean recipes; they're all here."
Sylvia Carter, Newsday
"a rich new entry where author Nirmala Narine is inspired by foods found in world treks and reworked, even reinvented, for American home kitchens."
